Dow Corning Corporation manufactures a complete range of silicones to meet the needs of various industries pertaining to adhesion, sealing, lubricants, rubbers, release agents, etc. The corporation has been performing research over past many years to establish the efficacy of the uses of silicone based products in various settings. Dow Corning 111 is a heavier version of dimethyl silicone compound that is used a high performance valve lubricant and sealant.

Molykote 111 Compound meets several global standards for water contact, including NSF 51, NSF 61, FDA 21 CFR 175.300, Water Regulations Advisory Scheme Approval BS9260 (England), IPL Certificate of Conformity (France) and DIN-DVGW Examination certificate (Germany).

Dupont Molykote Valve Lubricant and sealant (formerly known as Dow Corning 111 Valve Lubricant) and is a heavy-consistency dimethyl silicone compound that resists a variety of organic and inorganic chemicals. Dow Corning 111 Valve Lubricant and Sealant can be used as a lubricant for rubber and plastic O-rings, water softener and faucet valves, valve stems for potable water, aircraft vacuum systems, electronic and ignition systems, among others. It can be used as a sealant in applications such as vacuum and pressure systems, equipment subject to washing and harsh environments, electrical service entrances and underground connections, and transformer gaskets and equipment enclosures.

Dow Molykote 111 Valve Lubricant and Sealant maintains a serviceable consistency from approximately -70° to 400°F (-57° to 204°C) and has NSF 51, NSF 61 approval and is acceptable as a release agent under FDA 21 CFR 175.300, when used in accordance with that regulation.

Molykote 111 compound is the recommended O-ring lubricant for use in water filters and water treatment systems including reverse osmosis membranes, pressure vessels, and filter housings. The high grade silicone lubricant does not harm the membrane or downstream equipment typically used in reverse osmosis and water treatment systems.

The product has many important features associated with it. DC 111 lubricant and sealant is operational between temperature variations of -57°C to 204°C; it demonstrates great resistance against organic and non-organic compounds such edible oils, alkaline, water based compounds, etc. It is also highly resistant against oxidation, giving it better performance for sealing purpose in critical industries. In various tested environments, the product showed excellent electrical insulation, rubber lubrication and sealing properties; Dow Corning 111 valve, is stubborn in drying out during its service time over a long period.

Prior to full application of this product in an industrial process, a test run is recommended, to gauge any unknown effects; some grease guns may jam up because of silicone compounds. To obtain best results, the surface should be cleansed of any contaminants and should be dry as well. Dow Corning 111 Valve Lubricant and sealant can be applied manually by hand, through specialized equipment or via wiping or a brusher. Certain limitation should be considered as well; it should not be applied to surfaces which are about to be finished or painted because solvents may adversely affect it application.

There are low risks involved to health in a single exposure to skin, while inhalation risks are also insignificant. However, there are risks of direct exposure to eyes or oral ingestion, which can result in irritation and redness in eyes; accidental and minute amount of oral ingestion is not expected to be dangerous to health. Eyes and skin should be rinsed with lukewarm water; if irritation persists, medical attention should be sought. The product does not demonstrate any unusual fire hazards as well.

How to use Molykote O-Ring Lube:
• Molykote 111 Compound can be applied by hand, specially designed automated equipment brushing or wiping. Certain designs of grease guns may seize up; test prior to use. A thinner consistency can be achieved by dispersing in solvents such as xylene, mineral spirits and methyl ethyl ketone. Molykote 111 Compound can then be applied by brushing, dipping or spraying.

Uses for this product:
• Lubrication for control and pressure plug valves, water softener and faucet valves
• Sealant for vacuum and pressure systems
• Sealant for outdoor equipment (also shipboard) subject to washing and harsh environmental exposure: meters, electrical service entrance and underground connections
• Damping medium for dash pots in electrical and electronic equipment
• Molykote® 111 Compound is used as an anti-stick and a sealant for transformer gasket and equipment enclosures. It prevents gaskets from sticking to metal and resists weathering and water washout.
• Rubber and plastic O-rings, gaskets and seals.
• Reverse Osmosis Membrane O-ring Lubricant.
• Membrane Housing Pressure Vessels O-Ring Lubricant.
• Filter Housing O-Ring Lubricant - for Carbon Filters, Sediment.
• Filters, or a wide variety of Special Application Filters.

Other features:
• NSF Approved
• Non-curing sealant
• Provides moisture barrier
• Useable temperature range from -40°F to +400°F
• When stored at 77 F (25 C), these Dow Corning silicone compounds have a shelf life of at least 60 months from date of manufacture. Refer to product packaging for Use By date.
• Wide service temperature range (-40°C/-40°F to 200°C/392°F).
• Excellent water resistance.
• Compatible with many plastics and elastomers.
• Low vapor pressure.
• Low volatility.
• Meets several global standards for water contact.
